Revamping bearings, working cylinders, cassette

Revamping is a reconditioning and/or functional upgrade of existing mechanical components, aimed at restoring and/or improving original performance, extending service life, and reducing downtime and costs.

With the revision, downtime is minimized, costs are reduced and mechanical parts are returned “as new”.

Distitec will maintain the original performance, ensuring the geometric and load parameters foreseen by the original design, following the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system and all current regulations in the field of bearings.

How Distitec Revamping Works

Distitec applies this technique to:

  • Cylindrical roller bearings, both standard and special, for different applications: steel, handling, corrugated board machines, machine tools and automation, mining, cement and wind.

  • Back-up rolls (backup bearings) for sheet metal leveling machines, tension-leveling machines and straightening machines.

  • Multirow bearing shod on the necks of hot and cold rolling cylinders.

  • Thrust (support) bearings mounted at the ends of the working and support cylinders.

  • Working, support and support cylinders (WR and IMR) used in steel plants.

  • Cassettes of sheet metal flatbed, tension-flattening and straightening machines.

Distitec procedures for bearing revamping and more

The Distitec revamping process begins with a visual analysis, followed by specific checks to assess the feasibility of the intervention.

Subsequently, a quote is drawn up indicating all the operations that are intended to be performed.

We then proceed with the actual revamping, which varies based on the product and the type of revision that has been decided.

At the end of the intervention, a test certificate with all dimensional and geometric specifications is issued.

A. Cylindrical roller bearings, back up rolls, multirow, thrust bearings

  1. Disassembly and cleaning with neutral solvents.

  2. Visual analysis to evaluate the conditions in which the component worked.

  3. Dimensional and geometric checks.

  4. Hardness control, presence of cracks or breaks and any surface treatments (e.g. chrome plating).

  5. Heat treatment and straightening.

  6. Grinding, possible surface coating and final polishing to bring the roughness back to the original values.

  7. Washing and final testing.

  8. Compilation of the test certificate with the new dimensions.

B. Working, support and support cylinders (WR and IMR)

C. Banks and boxes of sheet metal levelling plants

  1. Disassembly and cleaning by the customer on site.

  2. Visual analysis using photographs to assess feasibility by Distitec.

  3. Reception at Distitec, dismantling and dimensional and geometric checks: inspection of seats, back-up rolls and cylinders.

  4. Replacement or restoration of rolling components.

  5. Restoration of the support seats of the various components (back-up rolls and cylinders).

  6. Washing and reassembly with ad hoc restored bearings and rollers.

  7. Final dimensional and geometric verification.

  8. Compilation of the test certificate with all new dimensions.
