What are special rolling mill bearings?

Special bearings for rolling mills and sheet metal processing are mechanical components designed to operate under particularly severe industrial conditions, typical of the steel sector. In fact, they have to withstand high loads, high temperatures and continuous production cycles.

These components are used in various industrial machinery, including:

• rolling mills

• sheet metal flatteners

• coils processing lines

• industrial handling systems

Their function is to ensure rotational precision, mechanical stability and long operating life, even in very demanding production environments.

Why use custom bearings in the steel industry?

BEARING TYPES

Back-up rollers are used in sheet metal leveling machines, which are essential components for ensuring the correct flatness of the processed material. These elements have the function of supporting the working rollers of the leveling machine, limiting their bending under load and ensuring a uniform distribution of forces on the material.

Back up rolls are designed to withstand very high loads and stand out for their high load capacity, wear resistance, rotational accuracy, and long operating life.

From a construction point of view, two main types can be distinguished:

• back up rolls without stud, mounted on separate shafts or pins and generally used in higher load applications;

• back up rolls with pin (block), in which the pin is integrated into the roller and allows compact solutions and quick assembly operations.

In corrosive environments or special applications, back up rolls made of stainless steel can also be used, which offer greater corrosion resistance and help reduce maintenance interventions.

Multirow bearings for Rolling mills

Multirow bearings are widely used in rolling mills to support rolling rolls subjected to extremely high loads.

The main types include:

multirow tapered roller bearings, with high radial and axial load capacity

cylindrical roller multirow bearings, ideal for high precision applications due to their high rigidity

Patented multiroll systems designed to further improve the performance of industrial rolling mills are also used in some applications.
