Spherical roller bearings consist of an external bearing with a spherical race and an internal bearing which, together with the asymmetrical rollers and the cage (which can be made of sheet steel or brass or solid steel), constitute a non-decomposable unit. The load transmission therefore occurs according to a certain angle with respect to the bearing axis, and this value determines the possibility of withstanding high axial loads and at the same time also radial loads of a certain amount proportional to the axial load, all this with high rotation speeds; they are also able to absorb any bending of the shaft and shaft / seat misalignments.
