When it comes to bearings, we often get to talk about special rolling bearings. This name includes all those bearings which, due to their dimensions and technical characteristics, are not among the standard products already on the market and which are therefore more difficult to find.
Special rolling bearings are not the habit of a mechanical designer who does not adapt to “standard ones”, but a real necessity where it is impossible to adapt a standard type bearing. The number of industry sectors that need this type of items is constantly growing.

How a special bearing is born
Rolling bearings follow a rigorous production chain and careful to obtain the highest quality standard. In the case of special bearings, the differences in design and product development are not that different.
If for a standard bearing we rely on projects with measures and characteristics already decided in advance, for the special ones the first phase is the collection of customer requests. Regardless of shape, size and functionality, the customer's needs are always at the first positions in the development of a new special customized bearing.
This first phase takes place in parallel with the modeling of the bearing, be it 2D or 3D. In this way the technician can confront the customer if problems arise in satisfying a given characteristic (for example, a particular mechanical process that would undermine the quality of the product itself).
When the project is ready on paper, we move on to the choice of materials. The quality of a bearing strictly depends on the quality of the materials used for its production. It is the manufacturer's job to rely on certified suppliers to purchase high quality raw materials. No less important are the processing of the product, with mechanical operations such as turning and milling, as well as assembly and testing. The final product is ready for delivery and can finally find its place in the assembly which it was projected for.
